About the Products
Anthony's Syrup Company is a small town company started several generations ago. The operation is largely managed by hand so attention is given to every detail! It's a family thing!
Back in the days when everyone made their own syrup from sugar cane grown on their own farms, Bilbo Anthony developed a recipe that became a favorite among those in his hometown. People would come from all around to buy a jar of his homemade sugar cane syrup. As the lives of those around him became busier and communities started relying more on grocery stores than their own kitchen, he found his niche. He moved his family to Mississippi where he began building his business. He spent his whole life building a small community of clientele and training his son Oliver to carry on his legacy. When Bilbo died, it fell to Oliver to carry on the business. Oliver was a skilled welder and salesman; he was well suited for the task. He moved his family to Philadelphia, and built his mill. He welded the cook pans that are still in use today and that is how Anthony's Syrup Company began.
Oliver's younger son, John, grew up learning the business. He and his other siblings worked hard in the mill from a very young age. John learned everything there was to know about the business from how to cut deals with suppliers to how to survive in the offseason. Oliver did not spend much time seeking out new clientele, but rather taking very good care of the clients he had. John decided to take the business to the next level by seeking more clients in other business sectors. He sought out new restaurant owners, local and nation-wide, and created a special recipe for each restaurant in his own tiny family kitchen while his wife, Renee, and two children taste tested everything. Eventually, businesses began to seek him out. His syrup is sold from coast to coast, though its sometimes hard to find! Sometimes it's sold as an ingredient for a signature vinaigrette at a high-profile restaurant, sometimes as ice-cream toppings, and it's sold most often to eat as is! John's only son, Slade, is now working at the mill and making preparations to take it over some day. His daughter, Dekota Anthony Cheatham owns opened Sweet Dekota's Gift Company so that the products can reach those that are not local to the products. Please look around at all we have to offer and feel free to email us with any questions!
